As a result of requests by our Members, in our Annual Members Questionnaire, a coach and cruise excursion has been arranged to one of our most popularly requested outings, namely a 6 hour non-landing return cruise on the Princess Pocahontas, from Gravesend Pier to Central London, we will go up the River Thames, cruise under the Queen Elizabeth 11 Bridge and through the Thames Barrier, pass the O2, as you view the changing face of the river frontage at Docklands and Canary Wharf before passing through the gateway to the City of London, Tower Bridge. From here on, every way you look there is something of interest, The Tower of London, HMS Belfast, the replica of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tate Modern and the National Theatre to name but a few. At Westminster Bridge are Big Ben and the magnificent Houses of Parliament. If time and tide allow we cruise on, passing Lambeth Palace and the Tate Gallery to Chelsea where we turn round and head back to Greenwich, Tilbury and Gravesend. Whilst we are on-board a ploughman’s lunch will be served as we cruise towards London and a cream tea will be served as we return to Gravesend. This should be a wonderful way to spend summer’s day out for everyone to enjoy.
