50th Thriplow Daffodil & Country Fair,
As a result of being one of the most popularly requested excursions by our Members in our Annual Questionnaire, we are making our first ever visit to see the 50th Thriplow Daffodil and Country Fair. During this truly unique visit you will be able to experience the warm and friendly atmosphere generated by the Daffodil Weekend charity fund raising event. Feel free to walk the village to look at the daffodil displays, visit the attractions and open gardens, potter around the stalls. Take refreshments in the tea rooms serving homemade cakes and sandwiches, or eat delicious hot food while listening to live music. For months beforehand and over the weekend itself, virtually everyone in the village, (and many neighbouring villages), have volunteered to help with the event – be it baking cakes, serving teas, working in the car park or picking up litter at the end of the day. Every year the exceptional Thriplow community works hard to pull off one of the best loved charity events in Cambridgeshire. There is a complimentary mini shuttle bus from the coach park to the village; alternatively it is just a 10 minute walk. I am sure this is an experience you will not want to miss, what a wonderful way to welcome Spring time

Thriplow is a quiet village situated 8 miles south of Cambridge. Each year it celebrates 'Daffodil Weekend'. Since the event began in 1969, tens upon tens of thousands of visitors have been drawn from all over the Country to this much loved annual extravaganza to enjoy the scents and atmosphere that is Daffodil Weekend. Each year visitors enjoy 'A Celebration of Spring’. You can step back in time for a few hours and walk at your leisure, meandering the beautiful traffic-free lanes and connecting footpaths with verges swathed in daffodils of differing varieties, or wend your way around residents ‘Open Gardens’, Craft Barns, Marquees, Stalls and Demonstrations, and experience the warm and friendly atmosphere. The "Smithy" will be operating for the weekend and magnificent Heavy Horses give Dray rides through the village. There are also Working Sheepdog demonstrations, Morris Dancers, Flower Festival, and Bell Ringing and Organ playing at the 12th century Church, Children's entertainment as well as a wealth of Charity, Plant & Book stalls, Vintage Vehicles and Arts Marquee. Hog Roast and hot & cold food are available throughout the day, plus 'Thriplow Teas’ and home-baked cakes are served in 3 locations around the village and the village shop and pub remain open all day.
